Eve Denies Drinking Caused Ruff Ride
The justice system just can't keep up with Eve. Apparently choosing not to wait around for her arraignment, which was scheduled for Thursday, the rapper pleaded not guilty today to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office spokesman Nick Velasquez confirmed to E! Online. The Grammy winner was arrested Apr. 26 after she plowed her gold Maserati into a center divider on Hollywood Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m. Eve, whose full name is Eve Jihan Jeffers, wasn't injured in the crash, but she was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence after failing a Breathalyzer test administered at the scene, police said. She was taken into custody and, after receiving a visit from pal Sean Penn, was released after posting $30,000 bail.

Spector Chauffeur Stands by Story, Steps Down
The Adriano De Souza Show has finally run its course. The driver who allegedly heard Phil Spector say, "I think I killed someone," took the stand for the fourth, and presumably last, day Tuesday, refusing to let the famed music producer's defense team alter his recollection of what happened the night Lana Clarkson died from a gunshot wound to the mouth. Court opened today with prosecutors playing the remainder of a videotape of a Los Angeles detective interviewing De Souza at the station about five hours after the shooting. While the defense has been arguing that the Brazilian-born witness may have had trouble understanding Spector's English and was confused as to what the murder suspect actually said, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office is looking to prove that De Souza heard Spector correctly and had no trouble communicating with investigators.

No Guilt Trip for Girls Guy
As Joe Francis tells it, he's a hands-off kind of guy. The "Girls Gone Wild" founder pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor count of sexual battery stemming from an 18-year-old woman's allegation that he groped her against her will in January. The alleged victim claimed in court documents that Francis touched her breasts, buttocks and inner thighs at a birthday party in Hollywood, even after she asked him repeatedly to stop. Francis, who is currently being detained by the U.S. Marshals while awaiting trial on federal tax evasion charges, was not required to attend the hearing in Los Angeles County Court and entered his plea through his attorney.

Dennis Quaid is about to double his pleasure. The "Rookie" star and his wife Kimberly are expecting their first stork delivery, twins, later this year via a surrogate mother. While Quaid's publicist, Lisa Kasteler, confirmed to the Associated Press that the 53-year-old actor and his 35-year-old wife were the twins' biological parents, she did not disclose the identity of the surrogate mama, her relationship to the Quaids or give a due date for the double delivery. The babes will mark the first children for the couple of nearly three years and the first child for Kimberly. Quaid, meanwhile, already has one 15-year-old son, Jack Henry, with ex-wife Meg Ryan.

Angelina Going Off the Grid
Tabloid editors may have to find a new love triangle to cover for the next 12 months. Angelina Jolie has announced plans to take one year off in order to spend more time with her ever-burgeoning family, once she wraps production on a handful of projects slated to film through the end of the year. "I'm working this summer. I'm in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months," she told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival Tuesday. "And then I take a year off." The 31-year-old Oscar winner failed to reveal whether partner Brad Pitt would be joining her in the temporary unemployment line, though it's not likely. The actor has five projects in the works. As for Jolie, the time off announcement is hardly a surprise--just slightly delayed. Back in March, the mother of four announced that she would not be taking on any more projects in the immediate future in order to focus on the homecoming of her newest addition, son Pax.
