Machel: Schools must act against traffickingGraca Machel, a Mozambican human rights campaigner and the country's former first lady, appealed to schools Saturday to take more action to prevent children being kidnapped and sold into prostitution.
Machel, who is married to former South African President Nelson Mandela, said Mozambique was targeted by child traffickers because it did too little to protect the young.
'The vulnerability of many schools arises from the fact that they are not protected by walls or fences, and have no security guards. Anyone can enter,' she told The Associated Press.

Democratic Congo names budget minister as premier
By Joe Bavier
KINSHASA (Reuters) - Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila named Budget Minister Adolphe Muzito as prime minister on Friday, according to a presidential decree read out on state television.
Muzito, 51, replaces his Unified Lumumbist Party (PALU) leader Antoine Gizenga, who retired last month ahead of his 83rd birthday on October 5.
Muzito has earned praise from diplomats and donors for his fiscal discipline in pushing through austere budgets for Congo following years of political turmoil and a devastating 1998-2003 war that left much of the country's infrastructure in ruins.

100 Somalis feared dead off Yemen coast: UNHCR
GENEVA (Reuters) - About 100 migrants believed to be mainly Somalis are missing and feared dead after being forced overboard by smugglers off the coast of Yemen, the United Nations refugee agency said Friday.
Survivors of the latest tragic crossing reported that a smuggling boat carrying about 150 passengers had left the Somali port of Marera near Bossaso Monday and spent three days crossing the Gulf of Aden, it said.
Most passengers were forced overboard about 3 miles from the Yemeni shore, and many are feared to have drowned, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said.
