Jewish settlers attack British diplomats in Hebron
HEBRON, West Bank (Reuters) - A small group of Jewish settlers attacked a delegation of British diplomats during a visit to the West Bank city of Hebron on Thursday, the British Consulate said.
The consulate in Jerusalem said the diplomats were attacked while touring the area in an armored car. None were injured.
A Palestinian security official in the city said one of the settlers kicked the car after trying to open one of its doors.
Tension often runs high in Hebron, home to 180,000 Palestinians and around 650 Jewish settlers who live in fortified enclaves guarded by Israeli troops.

Israel frees five Palestinians in Hezbollah deal
HASHARON PRISON, Israel (Reuters) - Israel released five Palestinian prisoners on Wednesday as part of a swap deal with the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla group that brought the bodies of two Israeli soldiers home.
Last month Israel freed five Lebanese prisoners and returned the bodies of nearly 200 Arab fighters. The two Israeli soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah cross-border raid that triggered a 34-day war in 2006.
The Israeli cabinet approved the release of the Palestinians earlier this week, marking the final stage of the swap. None of the five was involved in deadly attacks against Israelis, officials said.

Syria's Assad to meet Erdogan for peace talks
ANKARA (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashir al-Assad will hold talks with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan at a Turkish beach resort on Tuesday to discuss regional peace efforts, a government source said.
Assad's visit to Bodrum on the Aegean coast comes a week after Israel and Syria wrapped up a fourth round of Turkish-mediated indirect talks in Istanbul without succeeding in moving on to face-to-face negotiations.
"Erdogan invited him and they have issues to discuss, such as peace talks," a government source, who declined to be named, told Reuters.

Israeli parents forget daughter at airport
Israeli airport police say a couple going on a European vacation remembered to bring their duty-free shopping and their 18 suitcases, but forgot their 3-year-old daughter at the airport.
The couple and their five children were late for a flight to Paris Sunday and made a mad dash to the gate. In the confusion, their daughter got lost. A policeman found her wandering around the terminal, crying for her mother.
Israeli media report Monday that the ultra-Orthodox Jewish parents, whose names were not released, didn't notice the child was missing until they were told, in the air, that she had been found at Ben-Gurion airport.

Australian ire after rejected refugee dies in Gaza
A refugee advocate attacked Australian authorities on Saturday for rejecting the application of a Palestinian asylum seeker who returned to the Gaza Strip and was killed as part of a clan rivalry.
Akram al-Masri, who gained a high profile in Australia by challenging a government policy of keeping asylum seekers in prison-like detention camps, was shot Friday in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, police said.
He was slain by a member of a rival clan as he was leaving a courthouse where he had been certifying documents, police said. The two feuding clans often target members of the other tribe.

5 Palestinians killed in Gaza tunnel collapse
A smuggling tunnel under the Gaza-Egypt border collapsed, killing at least five Palestinians and wounding 18, Palestinian security and hospital officials said Saturday.
The tunnel collapsed late Friday, near the Gaza border town of Rafah.
